Day One

We make our way through Rob Roy MacGregor Country and into the Highlands. From Tyndrum, it’s over lonely Rannoch Moor and into the awesome beauty of Glen Coe, scene of the infamous massacre in 1692. We will make a stop in the heart of the Glen where you can enjoy an optional picnic lunch or a stroll in these dramatic surroundings.  From Fort William the striking scenery of the Great Glen unfolds ahead of us; first Loch Lochy, then Loch Oich and finally Loch Ness. We will enjoy a drive along the banks of Loch Ness, stopping to visit Urquhart Castle with its panoramic lochside views. It is a popular place with “Nessie” spotters, so keep a careful look out, just in case! Shortly we will arrive in Inverness, our home for the next two nights.

The stay in Inverness is unescorted.

Day Two

Today we enjoy the highlight of our tour: a full day excursion to the beautiful island of Skye by mini-coach. We’ll make a photo/coffee stop at Eilean Donan Castle, perched on its island at the head of Loch Duich. You will marvel at the views when we stop at this most picturesque of castles. Soon we’ll be crossing “over the sea to Skye” and visiting the beautiful gardens of the Clan Donald Centre before enjoying the dramatic scenery of the famed Cuillin Mountains. Later we will have time for some beach combing before returning to Inverness.

Day Three

After a leisurely breakfast the morning is free in Inverness for shopping or sightseeing. This afternoon join your motorcoach for our tour south. From Inverness we’ll make our way to the gentle Spey Valley then on through the dramatic scenery of the Drumochter Pass; as we do, keep a close watch for the deer that often come down to the roadside to graze. We’ll make a stop in the popular Victorian resort town of Pitlochry, nestling on the banks of the River Tummel. From Perth we make our way to  journey’s end in Edinburgh or Glasgow.
